War and Peace is not a crusade against partisan news or disingenuous commentary, on the contrary, it seeks to be a compendium of such perspectives. In my line of work, seeking out news media that is free of bias can be just as dangerous as exclusive consumption of that entertaining but limited array of perspectives in American media today. More often than not, "impartial" media ends up being colored by our own cognitive biases without our noticing. To do my job well, it isn't enough to attempt to be unbiased. To reach neutrality--to really understand the driving forces behind war and peace--I need to understand and consume the biases of other state actors as well. So I'm setting out to do just that. The journalistic world is teeming with fresh reporting and dynamic political analysis, and fortunately for me, it is no stranger to bias. Join me as I wrestle with these biases, analyze stories within the context of international mediation and grow as a mediator. Welcome to my professional self improvement project.
